The Chinese Language Carnival at SRSP Batu Pahat aims not only to celebrate the Chinese New Year but also to help students understand and appreciate the richness of Chinese traditions and cultural values.

A Warm Chinese New Year Welcome
One of the most heart-warming highlights of the carnival was the New Year greeting ceremony. Selected students were given the honour of welcoming teachers and invited guests with traditional Chinese New Year blessings.
With smiles and respectful greetings such as:
“Xin Nian Kuai Le”
“Shen Ti Jian Kang”
the students shared festive wishes that symbolise prosperity, happiness, and good health.
In return, teachers and guests presented the students with ang pow (red packets) as a gesture of blessings and encouragement. This meaningful exchange allowed students to experience one of the most cherished Chinese New Year traditions.

Cultural Performances by Every Class
The school hall came alive as each class presented a performance during the Chinese Language Carnival.
Students showcased their talents through:
• Chinese New Year songs
• Traditional and modern dances
• Festive storytelling
• Cultural performances inspired by Chinese traditions
Each performance reflected the students’ creativity, confidence, and teamwork.
One particularly memorable presentation came from Class 6P, who performed a dramatisation of auspicious Chinese sayings. Through their creative acting and expressions, the students brought traditional proverbs to life and demonstrated their understanding of the Chinese language and culture.
The performances were not only entertaining but also an opportunity for students to practice Mandarin in a lively and meaningful way.

Creative Classroom Decoration Activities
Creativity was another key highlight of the SRSP Chinese Language Carnival.
Students worked together in their classrooms to create festive decorations inspired by Chinese New Year traditions.
Some of the creative activities included:
• Forming Chinese characters and pictures using mandarin orange peels
• Creating festive decorations using red paper cuttings
• Designing classroom displays with Chinese New Year symbols
Mandarin oranges are traditionally associated with good fortune and prosperity, making them a meaningful element in the decorations.
These activities allowed students to explore the symbolism behind Chinese New Year traditions while developing creativity and teamwork.

Classroom Celebrations and Sharing
No festive celebration would be complete without food and joyful gatherings.
After the activities, each class held a Chinese New Year class party, where students shared snacks, drinks, and festive treats with their classmates and teachers.
The classroom celebrations created a warm and friendly environment where students could enjoy the festive spirit together.
