SRSP Educational Field Trip 2026: Learning Beyond the Classroom

On 3 July 2026, students from SRSP – Sekolah Rendah Seri Presbyterian, Primary School Batu Pahat, Johor embarked on an exciting one-day educational field trip filled with hands-on learning, Malaysian cultural experiences, wildlife discovery and memorable moments with teachers and friends.

The trip reflected an important part of education at SRSP: learning does not only happen inside the classroom. By seeing, touching, tasting and experiencing new things, students were able to connect what they learn with the world around them.

Discovering Malaysian Traditional Culture

One of the main highlights was the visit to Kampung Budaya Baru, where students experienced different aspects of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

Students enjoyed batik colouring, observed traditional craftsmanship, explored Wayang Kulit (shadow puppetry) and watched an energetic bamboo dance performance. Some students even joined the dance, turning the cultural demonstration into an interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

The students also visited a pewter workshop, where they watched a demonstration and learned how pewter products are made. These activities introduced them to traditional skills and crafts that form part of Malaysia’s cultural heritage.

The Ultimate Roti Canai Challenge

For many students, one of the most exciting moments was learning how to make Roti Canai, one of Malaysia’s most familiar and beloved foods.

Instead of simply watching, students participated in the process themselves. They learned how to prepare and handle the dough, stretch and fling it, and see how it is cooked on a hot flat grill until crispy and golden.

The hands-on experience transformed an everyday Malaysian food into a fun cultural lesson.

Students also tried making Teh Tarik, learning the famous “pulling” technique that gives the drink its distinctive frothy texture. Of course, the experience would not have been complete without enjoying freshly prepared Roti Canai and Teh Tarik together!

Lunch, Johor Memories and Wildlife Discovery

After the morning activities, everyone enjoyed lunch at McDonald’s, together with a mini sundae cone as a special treat.

The journey then continued with a photo stop at the Johor Royal Palace, giving students another opportunity to capture memories of their educational trip.

At Johor Zoo, students encountered a variety of fascinating animals and had the opportunity to observe wildlife outside the classroom. The visit encouraged curiosity about animals, their behaviour and the natural world.

A Memorable ETS Train Experience

Another exciting part of the day was travelling by ETS train from Johor Bahru to Kluang.

For some students, it was their first experience travelling by ETS, making the journey itself an important part of the educational adventure. After arriving in Kluang, the group visited the Old Kluang Railway Station and took more photographs to remember the occasion.

The final part of the journey took everyone by bus to Yong Peng for dinner before returning home after a full and meaningful day.

More Than Just a School Trip

This SRSP educational field trip 2026 was more than a day away from school. Students learned about Malaysian culture, traditional food, batik, pewter craftsmanship, Wayang Kulit, wildlife and public transportation through real-life experiences.

They also practised independence, teamwork, communication and friendship while exploring new environments together.

From stretching Roti Canai dough and pulling Teh Tarik to discovering wildlife and experiencing an ETS journey, every destination offered something new to learn and remember.
